How We Work
The Grade 4 Method is more than a collection of resources, it's a complete approach to improving GCSE English resit provision in post-16 education. We work alongside colleges to create a consistent teaching approach across the department. Through structured implementation, staff development, student e-learning intervention and ongoing support, we help colleges build sustainable improvements.
Everything we provide is designed to support one goal: Helping more students achieve a Grade 4.
For Leaders
A structured programme, aligned with Ofsted expectations and designed to boost achievement through departmental reviews, quality assurance, progress reporting and ongoing support.
For Teachers
Teachers receive support to implement The Grade 4 Method through an initial launch workshop, ready-to-use resources for the academic year, student workbooks and ongoing CPD.
For Students
Students experience consistency in every lesson. Lessons and intervention focus on the exam skills they need to pass, through clear routines, retrieval practice, deliberate practice and e-learning.

Teachers receive implementation support, coaching and CPD to embed resources into their existing lesson delivery.
Access to a resource library for the academic year, including lesson PowerPoints, student workbooks and assessment material.
We provide ongoing implementation support, from Quality Assurance, lesson observations & feedback, staff CPD and half-termly reports.

Lessons follow a repeatable structure centred around retrieval practice, exam question routines, live feedback and deliberate practice.
Students access workbooks, self-paced e-learning and purposeful activities designed to reinforce classroom learning.
Leaders receive termly reports, end-of-year evaluation of impact and planning for sustained and continual improvement.
How Does it Work?
We work with you for the duration of the academic year. Here's what you can expect during this time:
August - September
At the beginning of the academic year, we work with leadership and your English team to launch TRP.
During this time, we:
- Host a 'kick-off' meeting to establish our implementation plan
- Identify and agree success measures
- Complete initial departmental review
- Complete curriculum review and enhancement
- Deliver staff CPD workshop to launch The Resit Project within the team
September onwards
Once TRP has launched within the department, we then work to embed TRP across all teachers in the team.
During this time:
- Staff receive ongoing CPD to support lesson delivery using TRP resources
- Teachers deliver lessons using all provided resources
- Light touch departmental monitoring continues, including half-termly reports
- We prepare to launch TRP's e-learning intervention for students
- We launch TRP's e-learning intervention and begin progress tracking
- Focus on November and June examination series
June - August
Upon completion of exams, we then review and evaluate the success of the programme.
During this time, we:
- Review outcomes, including all success measures
- Complete an end-of-year review with leadership/English team
- Provide a written, end-of-year report
- Plan next steps or follow up for the following academic year
