Why TRP Exists
The Resit Project exists because too many post-16 learners leave education feeling like GCSE English is the thing that closed doors for them, or they start post-16 education feeling like GCSE English is a subject they just can't pass.
For students, resits are not just “another qualification”. Passing GCSE English can mean access to university, higher apprenticeships, employment opportunities, confidence, independence and progression. But too often, learners who have already struggled with the subject are placed back into environments that don’t always reflect the realities of post-16 education or the way learners engage with learning now.
The Resit Project was built around a simple idea: if we can support more learners to finally pass GCSE English, we can genuinely change the opportunities available to them afterwards. But to do that at scale, support has to be realistic for the environments colleges are working within too. Departments are balancing staffing pressures, disengagement, attendance challenges, large cohorts and the constant pressure around outcomes.
That’s why The Resit Project combines structured bitesize learning, practical classroom support, and scalable intervention designed specifically for post-16 resits. The goal isn’t to replace teachers or existing provision. It’s to support departments in creating consistent, accessible, modern intervention that helps more learners move forward with confidence and keeps more doors open for their future.
And, the data says it all:
